Asthma can be a very frustrating situation to deal with. Malia Obama, daughter of Barack and Michelle Obama, has been learning to deal with her asthma. Malia Obama needs to be the home of dust and allergen free. This creates a serious problem for the Obama family for their new residence, “The White House”. The first question that comes to mind is, why is this a problem?
The hypersensitivity reaction and the problem lies in the fact that “The White House” is an old building. The corner stone of the building was laid on October 13 1792. The house has had a series of renovations and a few fires. The first was a fire by the British when they turn the house in 1814 in the war of 1812. The second fire was in the West Wing in 1929, the Hoover Administration. “The White House” has also had many improvements that make this building asthma and allergy nightmare to live without artificial intervention.
When you’re dealing with Asthma and old buildings, such as “The White House” it’s going to be difficult for the child as Malia Obama to deal with her asthma. Trying to fix the old building, such as “The White House” is a losing battle for a person with asthma. From my experience dealing with this type of structure, it is what I call the “Money Pit”. Remember the movie “The Money Pit” with Tom Hanks and Shelley Long. The more they tried to try to solve the problem, the more problems begin to surface because of latent problems in the walls.
Let me get to the core issue here, “The White House” gets renovated every time it gets a new residence. I’m sure Obama Family has already made plans for the renewal of their stay in this “Nightmare on asthma Street” building. I call this type of structure nightmare because in reality, you can not fix it without some very serious structural and spending money. This buid ing outside the original stone structure and all improvements have occurred in the interior without a thought to the outer structural problems.
If Malia Obama were my client, I would recommend that she ask her parents, Barack and Michelle Obama to find another place for her to live the life of “The White House” will be difficult to deal asthma her. The Obama Family might consider “Blair House” across the street as a possible alternative if it can be cleaned up. There’s just too many variables to deal with in “The White House”. First, two major fires produced mold in the structure that was not right Remediated, so you have hidden mold in the structure. People in 1814 and 1929 did not understand the consequences of improper improvements for mold. Second, I guarantee there are hidden wind tunnel that will bring asthma allergies (ex. Mold spores, lead paint dust, 200-year-old dust) throughout the building and its impact allergies.
From my experience to deal with old buildings, when you start to examine them, you find hidden problems everywhere is not clear on the surface. Old building as “The White House” has mold, dust and allergens that are over 200 years old and have gathered in hidden areas of the house.
